Glucometer
Training Module
In accordance
with the NY SEMAC and the NYS DOH BEMS Policy 12-01 the
Nassau REMAC is authorizing all EMS agencies in Nassau
to perform blood glucometry. ALL Nassau EMS
agencies must register for a Limited
Clinical Laboratory License without delay, applications
can be obtained at
http://www.wadsworth.org/labcert/clep/Administrative/ChangeForms.htm
. Agency Medical Directors are required to submit
a letter to the Nassau REMAC indicating that they
understand their role in the Clinical Laboratory
requirements and Quality Assurance process.
Agencies must download this training module and provide
the training to all members and must maintain
documentation of the training, with rosters of those
trained.

Equipment
Requirements
As a reminder, the
Nassau REMAC requires that ambulance must have the
following equipment on board:
BLS - Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
Pulse-oximeter
ALS - Glucometer (Special Note: this item requires
a limited lab license, any agency that has not filed for
this license must do so without delay in order to insure
that you will be able to place the Glucometer in service
by January 1st.)
