The Nassau Regional EMS Council was established in 1993 by an act of the New York State Legislature. The Council consists of 30 members who live within the County of Nassau. One third of the members are active EMS providers, one third are Hospital based professionals and one third represents other important aspects of EMS (i.e. Communications, Disaster Management). The Council is responsible for coordinating EMS within the County. This includes the PCR distribution system as well as many other aspects of Emergency Medical Services.

·         Chairman: Scott Glazer, EMT-CC, is the Chairman of the Council.  Scott has been a member of the Council since 2000.  He served two terms as Council Vice-Chairman and two terms as Secretary/Treasurer of the Council; he is a member of the Regional Medical Advisory Committee (REMAC) and Resource Needs committee.  He is an active member of the Long Beach Fire Department, with 22 years of service and is an Ex-Captain.

·         Vice-Chairman: Steven Lenkofsky is a Charter member of the Nassau REMSCO.  He served two terms as Council Chairman; he served two terms as Council Vice-Chairman and three terms as Chair of the Education and Training Committee.  Steven serves on the REMAC, as well as on the Protocol Subcommittee and is Chair of the Policies and Procedures Subcommittee. In addition to his committee work, Steven has been a member of the Baldwin Fire Department for the past 29 years. Steven is an EMT-Paramedic and a career EMS educator for the past 21 years at the Nassau County Fire-Police EMS Academy. He is the Administrator of the Nassau County Fire-Police EMS Academy and Paramedic Education Program Director of the NUMC Paramedic Education Program, as well as serving as New York State Regional teaching faculty.

·         Secretary/Treasurer: Paul Napoli, EMT-CC, is Secretary/Treasurer of the Council.  Paul served 2 terms as the Council's Chairman, 2 terms as the Vice-Chairman, and 5 years as the Council's representative on the State EMS Council.  Paul is a member, former Chief and currently Commissioner of the Oceanside Fire Department.  Paul is also the Deputy Commanding Officer of the Nassau County Police Department EAB.

·         Executive Director & State EMS Council Representative: John J. Hassett, EMT-CC, is the Executive Director of the Council and a member of the State EMS Council where he represents the Nassau Region.  He was the Council's Chairman from its inception in 1993 through 1996.  John completed three terms as Chairman, and a term as the Secretary/Treasurer.  John is the Chairman of District 12 of the New York State Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Association.  He is Chairman of the Board of the  Malverne Volunteer Ambulance Corps, has been a member for 34 years and is a past President of the Corps.
